How flip-flopping your thoughts can shift you from fear and procrastination to confidence & action.
I train often about excuses, negative mindsets, fears and other things holding us back from being successful. It’s pretty crazy to think that we are all afraid of things that do not exist. We tell kids to not be afraid of the boogeyman, but as adults, we have our own boogeyman in our heads – those negative thoughts and fears, they aren’t even real, they are literally just a figment of your imagination.
So how do you change your thoughts and conquer the boogeyman in your head? It all comes down to what you focus on. Instead of focusing on all those things that could go wrong, that went wrong in the past, that you are afraid of, focus on what could go right, what has gone right in the past, what you are excited about and what you are working towards achieving.
When you start to make an excuse or thinking something negative, stop and flip flop those thoughts by saying the opposite. Then keep saying the opposite until it becomes your reality! It’s all about shifting our thought patterns & habits.
Here are few “stop & flip flop” examples:
“I am afraid to speak to someone about my business because they might say no or I don’t really know what to say and I will look stupid and feel rejected.”
FLIP FLOP – I am confident about sharing my business with others because I offer something valuable that they need to hear and if they are not interested that is their choice and no reflection on me personally.
I don’t have enough time to manage my business, I can’t keep up with everything, there’s too much going on, too many things begging for my attention.
FLIP FLOP: I have as much time as I need and I will choose to use it properly. I will prioritize my day, stop procrastinating and take charge of my business and life. Everything I do is a choice so I will make sure to choose only the best for myself and say no to the rest.
I am a mess and a failure, I don’t have any parties booked, I can’t seem to find people who are interested in my business, I just don’t think I can keep doing this.
FLIP FLOP: I am worthwhile and here on this planet for a divine purpose. I do not have to be perfect. My business is a little slow right now but I know there are people everywhere that I can connect with and help them improve their lives with the products I offer. I will succeed at this because I have the heart, the drive and determination. I will pick myself up and try again because success is my only option. I won’t settle for less because I deserve the best.
Those “flip flop” thoughts can also be called positive affirmations. We have to re-wire our brains, re-program our thought processes and FOCUS on what we want to manifest in our lives. When we begin to do that, the processes in our minds will actually start to shift and we will find it much easier to make better choices and be drawn to doing more positive things.
Our minds are so incredibly amazing and we can have so much more control over our thoughts and our actions than most people realize. It’s all on what we choose to think about. It takes some time and some work and you are still going to have bad days and bad things happen then knock you down and you will want to slip back into old thought patterns, but try to be more self-aware and when realize you are slipping back, just pick yourself back up and try again.
