What is EFT Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping and how does it help

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a popular form of alternative therapy that involves tapping on certain meridian points (or pressure points) on the body while focusing on a specific emotion or issue. The technique is based on the belief that negative emotions and physical pain can be relieved by tapping on certain points on the body and reciting specific affirmations.

EFT is often considered a form of mental or psychologoical acupressure. It follows tapping on pressure points that are also used in acupressure and acupuncture, which has centuries of evidence of it’s benefits. The goal of EFT is to help release negative emotions, reduce physical discomfort, and improve overall well-being.

EFT is often used as a complementary treatment for a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is believed that the tapping helps to balance the body’s energy systems and release negative emotions, allowing the individual to feel more relaxed and at ease.

To use EFT, an individual will typically start by identifying a specific emotion or issue that they would like to address. They may then tap on certain points on the body, such as the top of the head, the collarbone, and the side of the hand, while repeating a specific affirmation. The affirmation should be positive and specific to the emotion or issue being addressed.

For example, if an individual is dealing with anxiety, they might tap on the side of their hand while repeating the affirmation, “Even though I have anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself.” The tapping and affirmations are typically repeated a few times until the individual feels a shift in their emotional state.

Overall, EFT is a simple and effective way to address negative emotions and promote emotional well-being. If you are interested in incorporating EFT into your self-care routine, it is important to work with a trained practitioner who can guide you through the process and provide support. So, it can be a useful technique for those seeking to improve their emotional and mental well-being.

While EFT is not considered a substitute for traditional medical treatment, it can be a helpful tool for managing stress and negative emotions. I have personally been using EFT for 6 years now and credit it to helping me reduce my anxiety, triggers and feelings of overwhelm. EFT made such a positive impact on me that I decided to get my certification as an EFT Practioner so I can teach it to others and use it in my coaching practice.
